2026 Travel Awards

Travel is important for science and medicine. Face-to-face meetings and conferences offer important opportunities for education, mentorship, and collaboration. The travel support I had as a trainee has influenced my career in many positive ways, so I want to give back to the community.

I seek to directly support travel to scientific meetings for trainees and patients with the SprakerMD.com Travel Awards.

Two awards for trainees and two awards for patients will be available in 2026.

Here are the details:

  • Each award supports up to $500 for any expenses related to travel for a scientific meeting related to cancer

  • Award can be used to supplement other available support, such as residency academic funds

  • Eligible trainees: those enrolled and active in any training program related to healthcare

  • Eligible patients: those with an active cancer diagnosis or a history of cancer

  • Apply by January 15 for conferences starting on Jan 1 through June 30

  • Apply by July 15 for conferences starting on July 1 through December 31

  • 1 award for trainees and 1 award for patients are available in each period

The goal is a versatile travel award for trainees and patients that is a low burden for all involved. The awards come from my personal funds and I will select the winners based on the answers in this very short application.

Winners are expected to show proof of registration and expenses and to enjoy their time at the conference!
